Valdosta State University’s College of Business Administration is another in the state’s Georgia WebMBA® consortium. The cool thing about the network is that students get the opportunity to work with business professors from five University System of Georgia institutions. One thing to know: This is mostly a hybrid program, but the Georgia WebMBA® includes a residential orientation course held during two days at an Atlanta area hotel. Not too bad. Some courses available to consortium students include: Human Behavior in Organizations, Managerial Accounting, Global and International Business, and Managerial Decision Analysis.
This is an online program, which offers the student quite a lot of flexibility. What is most interesting about this MBA, however, is the community-building aspects of the program, which begins during one intensive residency in the first or second semester and continues in two practicum experiences at the mid-point and end of the program. Although the program is delivered online, students still benefit from the important aspects of a campus-based program, including invitations to campus events, opportunities to develop strong relationships with faculty and peers, assistance from a responsive support staff and access to a strong, active alumni network. Courses include Analyzing and Leveraging Data, Corporate Finance, and Strategic Marketing Management.
At Virginia College, students in the MBA program will take courses intended to (among other things) develop analytical managerial skills in cross-disciplinary endeavors; help the graduate conduct quantitative analyses of business situations; identify the relative components of decision making and product development; and analyze the managerial impact of market-driven strategies.
