University of St. Thomas – St. Paul, Minnesota
Starting in the fall of 2018, the University of St. Thomas will offer its part-time MBA program in an online format. Said Dr. Lisa Abendroth, associate dean for graduate program innovation, “We know that one-third of our current MBA students considered a fully online program before deciding to join our Part-time MBA.” To ensure student success, online classes will be capped at 30 students. The 45-credit program is made up of half required course work and half elective coursework. Students will start the program with a four-day, on-campus residency. There is also an 8 to 12-day study abroad elective students may opt to participate in or students may instead choose to use their elective credits to complete a graduate certificate on top of their MBA degree.
Minnesota’s largest private, nonprofit university, the University of St. Thomas is located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Founded in 1885, it is a Catholic, liberal arts university with a student enrollment of over 10,000 students across 88 undergraduate majors, 41 master’s degree programs, and five doctorates. St. Thomas holds accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission.
West Liberty University – West Liberty, West Virginia
West Liberty University announced it will launch a new concentration in fraud and forensics accounting for their online MBA program. The 30-hour program already has a management concentration. This new, 12-hour credit concentration will begin in August 2018 and will prepare students to be certified fraud examiners and licensed CPAs. According to Online MBA Program Director Greg Chase, “It’s a way for students to continue their studies in accounting, get their master’s and their CPA license. There’s a huge demand for people with the fraud certification.”
West Liberty University is located in West Liberty, West Virginia and is a four-year, public university with five colleges that offer over 60 majors. Home to just over 2,300 students, West Liberty is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
